We are very excited to announce that we’ve added another name to our mobility selection at IDTS Home Medical Supply: Pride Mobility.
If you’ve been looking for a scooter, power chair or other mobility equipment you might already know the brand. Pride makes a lot of products so there is more to look at than just one type of scooter. They make power wheelchairs Go Go travel scooters Pride mobility scooters, Baja outdoor scooters and VivaLift! power lift recliners.
That is a wide range.. Honestly that is helpful because not everyone comes into our store looking for the same thing. One customer may want something they can take on vacation. Another may need a power wheelchair. Someone else may be looking for a lift recliner for their home. We love that we can add these options to our store and are so grateful to be one of the Minnesota dealers.
A Little More Choice
Mobility equipment can be useful in a lot of situations. Maybe walking around the house isn't a problem. Making it through a large store is. Maybe you want to keep going to fairs, events or other places where you're going to be on your feet for a while. We've had people come in with those kinds of situations.
A mobility scooter can help with trips. A smaller travel scooter can make sense when taking the equipment with you is important. Power wheelchairs are another option, for people who need powered mobility more often.
Another popular product collection are the lift chairs. If getting up from your chair is the problem, a scooter obviously isn't going to solve that. A VivaLift! A power lift recliner is made for a situation. That's why we like having several types of equipment available.
Jazzy Power Wheelchairs
The Jazzy line is probably one of the names you'll recognize when looking at Pride power wheelchairs. There are quite a few models. Pride currently lists products such as the Jazzy Carbon, Jazzy EVO series, Jazzy Air 2 Jazzy Elite HD and Jazzy Ultra Light.
The models have designs and specifications so it's worth looking at the individual product rather than assuming every Jazzy chair is the same. If you're looking at power chairs this is one of the lines we'll be able to help you look through. The Jazzy line is great because they give you color options, accessory options and battery options. When investing in a product like this it’s always nice to customize it a little.
Go Go Travel Scooters
The Go Go line is a little different. We would recommend these for someone who does a lot of traveling. These scooters are made with travel and portability in mind. That's useful for someone who wants a scooter they can take along without going with a larger model.
Pride has several Go Go products, including the Go Go Elite Traveller Go Go Sport Go Go Endurance Go Go X and Go Go Carbon. If you're considering one for travel, think about your vehicle before you buy.
- Where will the scooter go?
- How room do you have?
- Will you be taking it apart? Folding it?
Those are things that're much easier to figure out ahead of time.
Pride Mobility Scooters
Pride has scooters as well. The lineup includes the Victory, Revo 2.0 Pursuit 2 Maxima, PX4 and Victory Platinum. Some people need a scooter for errands and shopping. Others want something they'll use outside often. That's going to change what you should be looking at.
Range might matter more to one person. Someone else may care more about comfort or the size of the scooter. There isn't one model that makes sense for everybody.
Power Lift Recliners
This is another part of the Pride lineup that sometimes gets overlooked. A VivaLift! A power lift recliner isn't about getting around the neighborhood or going shopping. It's for the person who has trouble getting up from a chair.
The lift mechanism raises the chair to help the person move toward a standing position. After that it works like a recliner. Pretty simple.. For the right person that can be a useful piece of equipment to have at home. The nice thing about Pride mobility is that their lift chairs come in many different options ranging from different materials, different colors and different sizes.
Why We Added Pride Mobility
When someone is shopping for mobility equipment there are usually a lot of questions.
- Will it fit through my doorway?
- Can I get it into my vehicle?
- How far will it go?
- Is the seat comfortable?
- Can I operate the controls?
- Would I be off with a scooter or a power chair?
Those are all things figuring out before buying.
At IDTS Home Medical Supply we can go over the options with you and talk through what you're looking for. Pride also has a dealer network, including a dealer locator for people looking for authorized sales and service.
Scooter or Power Wheelchair
This one comes up a lot. A scooter has a tiller in front of the seat. That's what you use to steer it. Pride makes both three-wheel and four-wheel scooters. A power wheelchair uses a joystick instead. So the controls are different from the start.
Some people are perfectly comfortable with a scooter tiller. Someone else may find a joystick easier. Then think about what you're going to do with the equipment.
A person shopping for something to use at the store or around town may be looking at scooters. Someone who needs mobility throughout the day may be looking more closely at power chairs. It's not really about picking the product that looks online. It's about finding something that works for the person using it.
Before You Buy
- Start with your routine.
- Where are you going?
- How are you getting there?
- Are you putting the equipment in your vehicle?
Those questions will usually tell you quite a bit. If you're using a scooter around the house you may be concerned about its size and turning space. If you're taking it outside other things come into play.. If you're traveling with it, transportation becomes a much bigger part of the decision.
Where will you use it?
Think about the places you actually go. Around the house is one thing. A neighborhood sidewalk is another. A store or outdoor event is different again. The equipment needs to work in those places. We recommend taking measurements of spaces that you will bring it.
How are you going to transport it?
Whether it is you or a caregiver it is important to make sure the person that is going to be lifting it is comfortable. We also recommend taking measurements of the car it will be going in to make sure it fits. This is especially important with travel scooters. Some products. Come apart for transportation. Larger scooters and power wheelchairs take up room. Check your vehicle before choosing a product. It sounds obvious. Its something people can overlook when they're focused on all the features.
What about the controls?
Scooters use a tiller. Power chairs use a joystick. That's a basic difference but it can matter. Hand strength, dexterity and comfort are all worth considering.
How room do you have?
Measure the areas where you'll use the equipment. Doorways. Hallways. Turning areas. Your vehicle.
Pride also has weight capacities depending on the model. For example the Jazzy Elite HD is listed with a 450-pound weight capacity. The numbers can be different from one model to another so check the specifications for the product you're considering.
What features do you actually need?
There are plenty of features on mobility equipment. Some of the things you may run across include:
- Adjustable seating
- Armrests
- Suspension
- Storage
- Lighting
- Portability
- Battery options
- Charging options
- Weight capacity
- Turning radius
- Outdoor performance
- Seat comfort
- Accessories
You don't need all of them. Look at what you'll use.

We've also put together a Pride Mobility YouTube playlist with videos showing Pride products. Sometimes watching a scooter or power chair move is more useful than reading a long product description. You can see the equipment, watch how it operates and get an idea of what the different products are like.
